On August 15th the family got together to celebrate our little Ellie's 2nd birthday. Not only did we celebrate Ellie, but Joey and Katie let the family in on a surprise...they are expecting again! It was so fun seeing everyone's reactions to the happy news. Not only did we celebrate Ellie and the announcement of a new baby, BUT the party also served as a GENDER reveal party! Two days before the party Katie's doctor's office gave me a call to tell me the gender. From there I made Ellie's birthday cake (my paternal grandmother's chocolate fudge icing cake) with the color of the gender as the middle layer. Joey and Katie had no clue so the gender reveal was super exciting. WAY back in June when Katie learned she was expecting she hatched this plan and to see it unfold was really fun to be part of.

This is hands down my favorite photo from the day. I love Joey's smirk. Katie can't even contain her excitement because she was hoping for a girl. My mom is registering the news. And Jay is like, oh man, you will be broke the rest of your days. Ha!

No photos of Syd. She was at the soccer fields too, but we called her after her game so Katie could share the news with her. Bryan wasn't able to make the party because he was coaching. Such a fun day celebrating Ellie and another little Carter Baby!
