Bryce is 1 month old!

Hello to all. ON Thursday Bryce had his 1 month check up with his Pediatrician. Great news…he weighed 7 lbs 12.5 oz and was 21-1/2” long. Hooray for little Bryce! I was so excited to hear how much weight he had put on. He did some great growing over the past 2 weeks. You can tell he has put on some weight because his little face has filled out some. Dr. Long listened to his heart and lungs and said things were sounding good. While at the Pediatrician they called our GI specialists to find out if the stool screens had come back yet. Three samples were sent out, but only 1 of the screens were back at the time…this particular one were for fats in the stool. The fats were high as expected. Dr. Long said more than likely the other 2 screens (I know one was for the pancreas and I am not sure what the other one is for) will be high as well. When I got home from the Pediatrician I called our GI Dr. again to see if the other results had come in. As of Thursday afternoon they were not in, but they said to go ahead and start giving him the enzymes before each feeding. So last night he had his first feeding with enzymes. The enzymes are in capsule form…we have to break the capsule open and mix it into a teaspoon amount of applesauce. Mr. Bryce LOVED the applesauce. I figured we would have trouble getting him to swallow the applesauce since he is so young, but he gulped it right down. Anytime Bryce goes to eat anything he has to take his enzymes so hopefully we will start seeing results very soon. The enzymes will help move the nutrients from the pancreas to the intestines and this in turn will help him grow and fatten up.

Overall our little guy is doing great. He is a very happy baby. He smiles all the time. I know it’s odd for a baby this young to smile all the time, but he does. He will look right at you and smile while you talk to him. Bryce is such a laid back little guy. The only time he really lets us have it is if it’s past time to eat…can’t blame him for that. He sleeps, eats, poops and smiles. What more could we ask for?!

The girls are doing great. Sydney loves Kindergarten. Her teacher says she is a really good listener. I found this to be amazing because I was starting to worry if her ears actually worked. I think her listening skills could be improved at home! But I am thrilled to hear that she is doing so well at school. Sydney is a very creative girl. She likes to draw and write. Her latest creations include making books and treasure maps. Jordyn starts pre-school on Tuesday. She is really excited about this because she wants to go to school like Sydney. Whatever Sydney does Jordyn has to do too. She is going to be in the Turtle class on Tuesday and Thursdays. I have really been enjoying my Jordyn time over the past several weeks. With Sydney at school Jordyn and I get to spend lots of alone time together. I must say that she has been such a well behaved and sweet girl, but the moment Syd gets home she goes into defensive/protective mode. You have to love that sibling rivalry!

Well…that is about all I have for now. We should have more information after our meeting with the specialists on Wednesday. Have a great Labor Day weekend! Oh and most importantly…
GO DAWGS!!!
